Unmatched Capacity Numbers are used throughout Microstran to identify structure elements such as nodes and members. These numbers are referred to as entity labels and they can be any integer from 1 to 99000. If parts of the structure are added or deleted, there is no need to renumber nodes and members. There is no time or storage penalty when gaps occur in a numbering sequence. The capacity of Microstran depends on many factors including the type of structure, the number of load cases, and the memory and disk capacity of the computer. In appropriate circumstances, the capacity of the standard version is 35,000 members and an extended version has a capacity approaching 100,000 members. The number of load cases is essentially unlimited.
